Xyron 150 Xyron 500 Xyron 900

Your "Smoke Detector" is not going off!! I have had a problem with ours and you hear the "Beep" in several of these videos. Sorry.

Xyron 150

The Xyron 150 is an adhesive product I use when I have a lot of small items to adhere. Die cut letters or small die cut images, for example. Liquid glue will spread out from under the item and leave a shiny residue on your project. Pen type glues won't get to the edge of the item and will allow edges to have peel points.

The Xyron 150 is for items the width of 1-1/2" or smaller. The replacement cartridges are around $5. You can purchase a "package" which has the "X" dispenser filled with the adhesive you want and an extra cartridge for about $10.

Another thing I use the Xyron 150 for is ribbon. I hate attaching a beautiful piece of ribbon on a card front that has a stained line showing down the middle from using liquid glue on the back. The Xyron 150 is excellent for keeping your ribbon beautiful and shiny while adding adhesive to the back.

The Xyron 150 can be purchased at your local craft/hobby store or online. The adhesive cartridges for the Xyron 150 come in "Repositionable" and "Permanent".

I made a video showing how to use the Xyron 150 with a small punched tag and a piece of ribbon.

Xyron 500

The Xyron 500 is another machine I have. This machine is generally known as the "Sticker Maker". It has an opening that is 5" wide. The "throat" is wide enough to add adhesive to your 4" x 6" photos, photo mats up to 5" wide, any of the shipping tags purchased from office supply stores or online.

The Xyron 500 can be purchased at your local craft/hobby store or online. The adhesive cartridges come in "Repositionable" and "Permanent". The Xyron 500 machine costs about $15. The cartridges for this machine cost about $10 each.

I created a video showing how to use this machine with a texture embossed piece of paper that measures 4-1/2" wide and about 6" long. I also try to show you can feed chipboard pieces through the machine. That is until I ran out of the adhesive.

Xyron 900

The Xyron 900 is wide enough for 8-1/2" paper. The special thing about this machine is that it has two types of cartridges. A "Repositionable", "Permanent", and a "Laminating" cartridge.

The Xyron 900 can be purchased at your local craft/hobby store or online. It is a bit pricey. The machine itself sells for over $30 and the cartridges sell for $20 or more. The Laminating cartridge sells for about $25.

The Xyron 900 machine works the same as the Xyron 500 does only on a larger scale. 8" x 10" photos can be fed through the machine to have adhesive applied to the back. The backing paper that comes out the back side of the machine, along with the item you fed through, can be partially peeled away as you adhere your item to your scrapbook layout or on a backing paper in a photo frame. Peeling the backing paper away as you apply allows you to get the item placed where you want it and make sure it lies flat.

The throat of the Xyron 900 is large enough you can put two 4" photo mats next to each other and run through the machine at one time.

If your child has any certificates from school you want to add to your album is easy with the Xyron 900. Feed the certificate through the machine then adhere.

You want to laminate the certificate instead? That can also be done with the Xyron 900. Do you have recipes handed down from your mother or grandparent and they are showing the wear? Run them through the Xyron 900 and laminate them. This will ensure they are kept water tight and no further damage will occur to these treasures.

The lamination is not as stiff as you would get from a Heat Laminator but it is just as good. No need to have electricity using the Xyron 900 since you have to use the hand crank to make it work and there is no fear of little fingers getting burned while the heat laminator is on while they are in the room.
